Blue Room - Pre-School

In the Pre School the main focus is about building children’s confidence and independence whilst developing important skills in preparation for starting school. This is achieved by providing a stimulating environment that enables the children to constantly learn and develop new skills through play. We believe that by capturing children’s interest they will find learning an enjoyable process and by offering lots of opportunities and experiences indoors and outdoors, children are able to take the next step to school as confident, independent and happy individuals. As well as reflected areas of play further activities enhance specific areas of learning such as cooking sessions, letter and number of the week, music and movement.

The Pre School room is zoned to allow for different activities and experiences to take place in individual areas. These are: messy area, mark making area, maths area, ICT area, book/quiet area, role play area, small world and construction area.
We enjoy outdoor play at least twice during the day and more in the summer months; the children are encouraged to explore the outdoor area, see to the vegetable bed and experience nature, use their imagination but also to develop their physical skills like throwing and catching a ball.

When the time comes for the children to leave the nursery, we work closely with the local schools to ensure that the children’s transition to school is a smooth and happy experience.

The Village Day Nursery is registered with Nottinghamshire County Council to provide Government free entitlement sessions to all three and four year olds the term after their third birthday.
